Artist Note

Douglas retired from the Canadian Foreign Service in 1994 and has been showing his paintings in solo and group exhibitions in the Ottawa and Toronto areas. Besides living in South Western and Eastern Ontario, he spent many years in the Maritimes, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Far East, etc. During his travels he drew a good deal of inspiration from several cultures - and his paint box was often within reach.

Foster's paintings are usually oil/acrylic on canvas. Although he has visited many art galleries and collections and has taken some courses in Canada and abroad, he feels he has learned the most from "just plain putting paint to canvas."

Now living in Ottawa, he continues to Paint and show his work.
